Prenuptial Agreements in New York
A prenuptial agreement (also called a premarital agreement or “prenup”) in New York is a legal contract entered into by two people before they marry. It specifies how assets, debts, and other financial matters will be handled during the marriage and in the event of divorce or death.

New York Prenuptial Agreement Law
Prenuptial agreements in New York are governed by N.Y. Dom. Rel. Law § 236B. New York requires that prenuptial agreements be in writing, signed by both parties, and executed voluntarily with full financial disclosure.
