Prenuptial Agreements in North Carolina
A prenuptial agreement (also called a premarital agreement or “prenup”) in North Carolina is a legal contract entered into by two people before they marry. It specifies how assets, debts, and other financial matters will be handled during the marriage and in the event of divorce or death.

North Carolina Prenuptial Agreement Law
Prenuptial agreements in North Carolina are governed by N.C. Gen. Stat. §§ 52B-1 to 52B-11. As a UPAA state, North Carolina requires that prenuptial agreements be in writing, signed by both parties, and executed voluntarily with full financial disclosure.
