Prenuptial Agreements in Tennessee
A prenuptial agreement (also called a premarital agreement or “prenup”) in Tennessee is a legal contract entered into by two people before they marry. It specifies how assets, debts, and other financial matters will be handled during the marriage and in the event of divorce or death.

Tennessee Prenuptial Agreement Law
Prenuptial agreements in Tennessee are governed by Tenn. Code Ann. §§ 36-3-501 to 36-3-502. As a UPAA state, Tennessee requires that prenuptial agreements be in writing, signed by both parties, and executed voluntarily with full financial disclosure.
